Fishing Team |
James Chappel
I started fishing as a young boy with my father on his inflatable zodiac all over the Rhode Island coast for striped bass and bluefish. When I was older I began surf fishing, but after a few years decided to get into kayak fishing and haven't looked back. I am now an avid kayak fisherman and I fish throughout New England for saltwater game fish including Striped bass, bluefish, fluke, sea bass, tautog, false albacore and bonito. I am a member of the Ocean Kayak, UltraProX cameras and Pepper’s Eyeware Pro-Staff. I am the founder of "Ocean State Kayak Fishing", a local fishing group with members from all over New England. I also have a quickly growing YouTube channel, Instagram page and fishing blog. I am very involved in the local kayak fishing scene. I contribute regularly to the Kayak Angler Magazine website with tips, diy's and experiences. My DIY light pole was voted their #3 most popular article of 2015. I compete annually in The Mass Bay Striper Shootout tournament. I will be organizing a tournament this upcoming season for my group's members with the help of one of the largest tackle shops in Rhode Island in addition to a separate year long tournament. |
