Reels & Tackle's roots started back in middle school when I used to collect sports cards. During recess (and even class) I would pull out a binder full of sports cards with little price cutouts stuck in the plastic sheets, showing how much I would sell one of my sports cards for. This evolved into opening up a family business in Ellsworth, Maine, which included sports cards, sports collectables, nascar memorabilia, and more. The idea of offering a product that customers would enjoy looking at, talking about, and buying has always been very intriguing to me. Once the love of fishing ignited once again from growing up around it with my father, this was the next venue of my retail ventures.
In February of 2012, I started Marx Sporting Goods (keeping the Marx Sports Cards & Collectables family name) out of my home and enjoyed working on it aside from my full time job. In 2014 we thought it would be better to change the name to Reels & Tackle since we didn't deal with "sporting goods" items such as baseball gloves and basketballs, etc. Since changing the name we have had great feedback from the fishing community and we strive to offer the best tackle at under retail prices. Anything that we offer on our site we have put to the test on the water and have given it a "thumbs up" to catch the big one with. We love to help others bend a rod as well with the knowledge we have gained over the years, which is why we pride in calling ourselves "Your Fishing Partner".
We set ourselves apart from other online stores, even brick-and-mortal stores, with our fishing partner first mentality. Heck, we have even brought our customers on the water and got them on fish! How about THAT for service!
